Jackie Robinson made history as the first African American to play in Major League Baseball. Now, his foundation is making history with a scholarship program that addresses the financial needs of college students. The foundation offers scholarship awards, as well as extensive, hands-on mentoring and support services. Winners will receive a generous four-year scholarship to attend an undergraduate school of their choice. They can also enroll in a special leadership program that the foundation itself offers.

Riley Morrison, a 9-year old basketball fan wrote a letter to 3-time champion Stephen Curry a letter asking why him his shoes weren't accessible for girls. Stephen was so blown away that he immediately took action to change his shoes, his business, and his perspective. He decided to create a shoe for Riley but he wasn't comfortable profiting off her shoe design, so he joined with Under Armour and turned his design into a scholarship program that would impact girls for years to come.

Their commitment to diversity can also been in the business competitions that they offer for African American entreprneeurs.
Ray Charles Endowed/ United Negro College Fund Scholarship
The foundation of Ray Charles, one of the most successful musicians of all time, has partnered with the United Negro College fund to award scholarships to deserving students who demonstrate academic excellence. His foundation specifically aims to help students who are in need, and who are college juniors enrolled at a qualifying university. The scholarships are renewable.
Oracle Corporate Scholars Program For African American Students
Oracle, a multi-billion dollar global computer technology company, has partnered with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to not only offer scholarships to African American students, but also to offer internship opportunities at their headquarters in at Oracle headquarters in Redwood City, California. They specifically are looking to help students who are pursuing degrees in business and technology related fields.
"Regions Riding Forward" Scholarship Essay Contest
Regions Bank, headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama, offers scholarship awards to low income African American students every year during Black History month. Students must participate in an essay contest that addresses the contributions of Black people. Every year, about 7,000 entries are received, but only 30 scholarship recipients are chosen.
Tom Joyner Foundation/ Denny's Filmmakers Scholarship Program
Tom Joyner, who hosted the Tom Joyner Morning Show for more than 25 years, has partnered with Denny's via his foundation to help inspire filmmakers who are attending HBCUs around the country. The goal is to support storytelling through film, and to make sure that African Americans are able to artistically express themselves through documentaries, television shows, and movies.

The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) is a powerful organization that creates a national platform for the economic, social and political impact of environmental and energy policies that affect Black and minority communities.
